(7/21/2008) - Post #168 Jrs. were in action over the weekend at the Class C Area 4 District Tournament in Adams. Friday was a rain make-up from the previous night vs. Dwight. Pawnee County would fall 3-2 on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th to drop to the losers bracket. Curtis Rexroth and Caleb Wood were the only two players to record hits while Aric Schnacker took the loss on the mound. Saturday found the Jrs. playing for life against Tri-County. Schuyler Allen went the distance in the 9 inning game striking out 14 in the 7-4 win. Aric Schnacker and Thomas Pearson both drove in 2 runs in the win. Sunday was a rematch of the first game facing Dwight. Toby Fisher threw 6 2/3 innings while Schnacker threw one out and recorded the win. Going into the botton of the seventh in a 5-5 game Allen singled and was drove in by an Alex Habegger double. It was now on to the 7:00 game to face the 2 seed Weeping Water. Schnacker started on the mound and threw 3 strong innings in the 7-1 win. Kyle Oates and Allen were both 2 for 4 in the game. On Monday night Pawnee County found themselves in the Championship game against host Adams. Schnacker made the start but failed to record an out. Alex Habegger threw 6 strong inning for Post #168 in the loss. Habegger was 1 for 2 at the plate while Pearson was 1 for 1 scoring and driving in a run. Pawnee dropped the game 11-4 and received the District runner-up honors. This is the first time a Junior team from Pawnee has played in a district championship game. Post #168 Juniors finish the season at 12-5-1. Players leaving the Juniors for the Seniors next year will be Curtis Rexroth, Skiler Ramsey, Alex Habegger, and Thomas Pearson.
