Way Better Than Any Site on the Internet Page
Hi, and welcome to my world. This my first attempt ever at
putting information on the internet. Hopefully, it'll be to your
satisfaction. It's kind of a work in progress and hopefully it
will remain a work in progress and I will continually update it.
My Classes:
Physics (Fizziks) at Pawnee City is done as a practical application
of math in
science. From Sig Figs, Vectors and Scalers, 1-D Motion to
Thermodynamics, Electricity, and Magnetism. Every quarter we have
a large project that we spend approximately a week on. The first
is bridge building out of milk straws, the second is a mousetrap power
car, the third is a car powered by an electric engine, and the fourth
is rocketbuilding. We also try to hab small labs withing the
content that we are studying when time and necessity allow. It's
a good, but challenging class for Seniors. Trigonometry as a prerequisite is recommended.
Chemistry is the study of matter and its interaction. It is a
course that can be taken as Junior or Senior. Here we start off
with the Periodic Table of Elements, their trends, and how the elements
interact. We then get into the language of chemistry; naming,
equations, stoichiometry, and the mole. We also try to finish the
year with some exposure to higher level chemisty, such as, electric,
organic, nuclear, and biochemistry. This class is littered with
labs throughout. Students are required to write high level lab
reports over projects that we do. It is done in a fast based,
inquiry style classroom.
Physical Science is Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics in an
introductory course. This is a required class for Freshman.
We start with an Earth Science Review; then we move to Chemistry where
we learn atoms, periodic trends, bonding, structure, equations, acids,
and bases; after chemistry we dive into physics learning about motion,
forces, wave dynamics, sound, light, electricity, and magnetism.
Earth Science is the study of the earth. Oceanography, Geology,
Meteorology, and Astronomy. It is a required class for the 8th
grade. We start out learning basic science ideas then move into
rocks and minerals, earth features, and plate tectonics. The
weather is next learning how meteorologists predict, cloud types, and
climate areas. When we learn about the ocean we learn certain
trends, how it was formed, and then it's role in the history of our
earth. Finally, we wrap up the year in space. The objects
in it, how the universe was formed, and our role in the universe.
If you enter each class you can see the syllabus, my class room rules and the discipline and safety contract.
My Coaching:
I just completed my third year as the head coach of HTRS/PC
wrestling. We had two wrestlers qualify for the class C tournament in Omaha.
I also have just completed my third year as the manager/head coach of
Post #168 Legion Baseball. The teams included players from 3
different schools (HTRS, Pawnee City, and Lewiston) and
from 7 different towns.
