Welcome to the Lab!
Inspiring Youth, Expecting Results!
Students at Johnson-Brock have several opportunities to explore the science curriculum. Courses offered include life science, Earth science, physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, and anatomy/physiology. In addition to regular course work, juniors and seniors have the opportunity to expand their scientific knowledge through independent study course work. Courses include zoology, geology and forensics.
In science much of student learning comes from hands on exploration and lab work. This allows students to relate content material to real life situations and applications. Of course, all students must follow safety precautions including safety goggles and lab aprons. All students are required to sign a safety contract after reviewing safety rules.
Students enrolled in a science course will be expected to read assigned materials and complete daily assignments. Learning assessments will include quizzes, projects, tests, and research papers.
During the 2007-2008 school year, students will be assessed on standards based on the science curriculum as part of the requirements for Nebraska L.E.A.R.N.S. For additional information or a list of science standards please go to the Nebraska Department of Education.
