Library Schedule-AR is FUN |

Accelerated
Reading has been a great challenge for the kids. A lot of the
kids are just as competitive about doing well on A.R. quizes as they
are about playing sports. The program helps students practice
reading and then take quizes to see if they comprehended what they read.

During the month of March we
tried a new incentive program that the kids enjoyed. We
gave prizes such as book marks and stickers that had pictues of animals
reading on them. We had several different ways for the kids to
earn prizes. One of the prizes available was for every child each time he or she got a
passing grade on a quiz. The kids put their name on a shape cut out by the die cut
machine, and pinned it on the wall. As you can see, our wall got
filled!

A library schedule is set up
every year. Kids may either search for a new A.R. book, take an
A.R. quiz, or, if allowed by their teacher, find a book for fun.
The elementary library schedule is as follows:
Morning A.R. until till around 8:15
Any students
that wants to take a quiz or search for an A.R. book before school may get a
library pass from the women in the
lunchroom, and then come over to the library.
8:45 to 9:15 = 2nd grade
9:55 to 10:25 = 6th grade
10:35 to 11:05 = 3rd grade
12:35 to 1:00 = 5th grade
1:00 to 1:35 = 4th grade
2:10 to 2:30 = 1st grade
