3-5.1 Control of Student Activity Fund
The Superintendent’s Office will have custody of all class and activity funds.
Any money or purchase orders having to do with the General School
District Funds, or the High School Activity Fund are to be handled
through the Superintendent’s Office, except, the signing of purchase
orders may be delegated to building principals under certain conditions.
Funds collected for fines, tuition, driver education fees, shop fees,
adult classes, sale of books, milk, etc., are to be turned into the
Superintendent’s Office.
The Superintendent’s Office will keep accurate records of all receipts
and disbursements and will submit, to the Board a
monthly report of receipts, disbursements, and balances of all
accounts. These records and funds shall be audited once a year by
a Certified Public Accountant selected by the Board of Education.
Money must not be left in the classroom at any time; responsibility for
theft or loss must be taken by the teacher and the student
organization. Money collected by organization sponsors or
treasurers should be turned into the Principal’s Office for deposit.

3-5.2 Community Organizations
Representatives of community organizations are to make
arrangements through the Superintendent or Principal or any pupils whom
they wish to appear on any program as a school group. Permission
for absence from school will not be given without careful consideration
of the pupil participating and the program in which they will appear.

3-5.3 Music Lessons
Students taking group music lessons during school time shall not
be dismissed from regular classes. However, they may be dismissed
from study halls. Students shall not be excused to take lessons
from outside instructors.

3-5.4 Athletic Insurance
Students, out for athletics, are required to have a physical
examination by a doctor. Any fee for this examination will be
paid by the student. Further injury benefit insurance will be
carried on the members of the athletic teams grades 9-12 and the
premiums will be paid one-half by the student participating and the
school district will bear on-half of the cost.

3-5.5 Sponsoring Activities
All student groups attending a contest of any kind shall be
accompanied by a school approved sponsor. When large groups, such
as music contests, are in session, parents may be asked to serve as
sponsors.

3-5.6 Cooperative Sports Agreement
The Nebraska City Public Schools shall, on a case by case basis,
consider entering into Cooperative Sports with other schools. The
board shall consider whether the requesting school is within our
district's boundaries, how the increased participation would impact our
size classification, if cooperating would positively impact the subject
sports program and what costs the requesting school would be willing to
pay. The requesting school shall provide evidence of equal or
better limits of liability coverage prior to an approval being
granted. The participating schools will enter into a written
contractual agreement that insures joint responsibility of liability
insurance coverage for both the participating schools and the
participating students.
