2-3.1 Policies for Salary Administration
The Superintendent of Schools is authorized to recommend
salary changes to the Board of Education for all certified
personnel based on their satisfactory teaching experience in the
Nebraska City Public Schools, and their present remuneration and
assignment.
The Board of Education, after due consideration, and the recommendation
of the Superintendent of Schools, may give additional payment for
quality of work, travel, or additional professional growth.
A teacher recommended for employment in the Nebraska City Schools may
receive credit for previous teaching experience based upon an
evaluation of this experience by the Superintendent of Schools.
Such experience is to be within the immediate past six years.
Additional amounts may be granted by the Board of Education for
positions requiring special training, responsibilities, or in a
emergency situation.
Teacher’s services will be based upon the number of days called for in
the teaching contract and, when necessary, salaries will be prorated
according to the number of contract days.
Non-degree teachers will not be considered for employment unless an emergency exists.
Degree teachers must show evidence of substantial professional growth
each six years. This professional growth must be in the form of
six semester graduate hours or, six semester hour equivalents approved
by the Superintendent of Schools.
Questions concerning interpretations of the provisions of the payment
program shall be resolved by the Board of Education whose decisions
shall be final.
The salary payment program shall not be construed as contractual, and
no teacher employed by the District shall have any claim, demand, or
cause for action, either legally or equitably by reason of the
provisions hereof.
The Board of Education may increase, alter, amend, or abolish the
salary payment, program or any part thereof, as it seems
necessary for the best interests of the school and as financial
conditions warrant.
