Nebraska City Middle School Visual Arts

Welcome to the website for the visual arts program at Nebraska City Middle School. This website was first posted in the spring of 2003 as part of the ESU 4 Manila project.

The website features two special projects, Operation Fly Like An Eagle and Outside the Envelope, completed by middle school students during 2001-02 and 2003.

Below is a brief narrative of each of the projects. To see and learn more about these projects - click on the respective links in the My Pages section to the left of this page.

Operation Fly Like An Eagle

Mural:

Operation Fly Like An Eagle began in December 2001 as an eight-day special projects course in mural painting for eighth grade students. The mural was created as a symbol of American resolve following the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The web page documents how the creation of the mural evolved into more than a painting project. To see and learn more about this project, go to the My Pages section and click on the Eagle link.

Outside the Envelope

Sherwood 2:

Outside the Envelope is an interdisciplinary language and visual arts project completed by sixth grade students in celebration of Youth Arts Month - March 2003. Students created envelope art and wrote letters to artists in Nebraska. The accompanying web page is a collection of envelope art and comments from the letters students received in correspondence with the artists. To see and learn more about this project, go to the My Pages section and click on the Envelope link.
