Academic Activity Eligibility
ACADEMIC ACTIVITY ELIGIBILITY:
All students participating in any activities at NCHS will be
required to meet the following academic and procedural expectations
listed below.
- Meet all eligibility requirements as outlined by the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA).
- In-season academic eligibility will be monitored every three weeks on the normal academic reporting process.
- In any reporting period any student failing one subject will be
required to meet with their instructor a minimum of two times per week
until he or she has raised their grade above failing. Once the failing
mark has been erased, the student will not be required to see the
instructor for academic help. The instructor will be required to
verify using a form provided, that the student has been in for help and
has raised the grade above failing. This form will be returned to
the activity coach or sponsor for their use in monitoring the student’s
progress. Students who fail to meet with their instructor and make no
attempt to raise their failing grade will be unable to participate in
their activity or sport at the end of the three-week period.
- In any reporting period any student failing two or more subjects
will become ineligible to compete immediately. Students will
remain ineligible for one week at a time during each reporting period.
If during that one-week of ineligibility students are able to raise
their grades they will be able to compete the following week. The
student will be required to meet with their instructor a minimum of two
times per week until he or she has raised their grade above failing.
The instructor will be asked to verify, using a form provided that the
student has been in for help for the assigned amount of times. This
form will be returned to the activity coach or sponsor for their use in
monitoring the student’s progress.
- During ineligibility students will still be allowed and expected to attend practices.
