Assignments

Literacy circles are the name of the game for this class.  Reading workshop is a place to get serious about reading and discussing books.  Reading is not a passive activity...it requires nonstop critical thinking.  Students will experience a variety of genres and levels of reading.  Students will also learn to think about their own thinking...sounds tricky, but it's really about becoming aware of reading and study strengths and weaknesses; the technical term is metacognition.  It's a great way to end the school day, and students will no longer be "bored" after school or on weekends because they'll always have a book close by.
