Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is the ACT/SAT school code?  281-215

2.  Where can I access information for the FAFSA and FAFSApin?  Click on  Other Helpful Links and you will find a link to the those websites.  Keep in mind that FAFSA cannot be applied for until after Jan 1.  While FAFSA pins can be applied for anytime.

3.  Where can I find scholarship information?  The "Scholarship Information" link has scholarships listed that I keep updated as well as links to websites that have scholarship information available.

4.  When do you recommend students to visit colleges?  Juniors and seniors should be looking at colleges and deciding what majors would interest them.

5.  When should I take my ACT?  Seniors - should take it now if you haven't already done so (December before their graduation).  Juniors - should think about taking in the winter or spring.  Keep in mind the ACT can be taken as many times as you would like to; therefore, if you are concerned about how you will score - taking it earlier may help you to give yourself more time and opportunity to take it again.

6.  Do I need to take the Writing section of the ACT?  To date, only students interested in teaching are required to take the Writing section.

7.  Should I take the ACT or the SAT?  The trend seems to be that midwest colleges/universities will take either (usually the ACT).  Colleges/universities on either coast seem to prefer the SAT.  Check with the schools you are interested in to obtain admission requirements.
