Practice is considered homework for band. Practice is nothing more than the repetition of correct techniques learned in class. Practice sheets should be filled out, starting on Mondays, going through Sunday. Turn in the sheet the next week in band class or just drop it in the Practice Sheet Box in the bandroom.
At 5th grade, we ask for 180 minutes of practice per week. This is where repetition really counts, and note naming and counting while clapping are both considered practice.
At the middle school, we ask for one hour per week, but there is no limit to how much a student practices. Only home practice counts, or lessons outside of band.
