Middle School Band Opportunities
Honor Bands
7th and 8th grade band students may request to be nominated for the Blair Honor Band held each spring. Students are selected from the nominations list each year, and spend a day in Blair with approximately 200 other students preparing for an afternoon concert.
Middle School Contest
7th and 8th grade students in band may prepare a solo or small ensemble to play at the Platteview Middle School Music Contest held in February or March of each year. The solos and ensembles are judged and ratings of Superior, Excellent and Honorable Mention are given. Judge's comments are used to help students improve their performance skills. Students are responsible for their own fees for the contest.
