My name is Karen S. Mezger and I am your high school guidance counselor.
News for 2007- I am now a grandmother to Hudson Andrew Mezger, son of Matthew and Kellsi Mezger born August 6, 2007. It is one of the best events that happened this summer!
Hudson is now almost six months old and such fun to watch him grow and develop. When a person has the opportunity to touch a life, we can do that forever. I am feeling quite blessed. He is rolling over and starting to make all types of vocal noises. What fun Grandpa and I have when we are with him (and of course, his parents)! |
I am a graduate of Auburn High School in a class of 96 fellow classmates. From AHS, I attended Peru State College to obtain my bachelor's degree in Education teaching Vocational Home Economics. I also met my husband, Richard while attending PSC and was married in May 1972. We moved to New Jersey for two years before we moved back to Table Rock, NE. I then accepted my first teaching position at Dawson-Verdon in1975. After teaching four awesome years at DV, it was our family decision that I would stay home and raise our family.
We are proud parents of four awesome children: David, Thomas, Matthew and Katherine. We placed a high emphasis on education and three of the four have a post secondary degree. Katie is still attending UNL working toward an education degree. My husband was also in education for 23 years at Falls City Public School and now owns his own business, Mezger Construction, with our oldest son, David. What an opportunity to continue to learn and grow within the small rural community!
I also worked as a para-educator in the TRS system as well as a few years of substitute teaching before I returned to University of Nebraska at Kearney to earn my Master's degree in School Counseling to further my strong belief that I want to help young people be successful, worthwhile adults in today's society. That might be attending a post secondary institution, entering the military, joining the workforce, or becoming a parent. It is part of my passion to be able to help student's find their direction in life or to help them reach their potential as a young adult.
So as we move forward with your child's education, I hope that I can be a part of the guiding beam of light to help them along their educational path to transition into their career. I am very willing to meet with you at any time if you have concerns, new ideas, etc.
