Science Happenings
During the three-year (school years 1999 - 2003) Collaboratories for Learning project, the students will use higher order thinking skills and inquiry-based science activities and resources to show progress toward mastery of the state science standards.
Elementary teachers attended the NATS workshops at Camp Calvin Crest, Fremont. These workshops helped teachers learn to address state standards, as they viewed materials and resources available for instruction, completed several “hands-on” projects, and discovered new techniques for integrating science into elementary curriculum. A release time professional development day was provided as inkind from the school district so that all teachers involved in the project could attend the October 2001 Nebraska Association of Science Teachers (NATS) fall workshops. Mrs. Withers attended in October of 2002. Teachers were excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with such experts in the field of science.
