On Tuesday, April 3, 2007 five HTRS students ( Tyler Frank, Joe Maschman, Kassandra Connell, Ali Streit, and Julie Stauffer) joined other students from southeast NE to participate in  BAC ( Build A Computer) in Milford, Nebraska. BAC was offered by a ESU 10 technology team mad e up of John Stritt, Jamie Kramer, and Jordon Clark known to us as TECHS. They offer the program as a part of a series of technology lessons. Students learned about the components necessary for the building of a computer. They learned about an operating system called Linux and open source and software programs. Students worked together in school teams and by the end of the day had an operational computer take home.

The computer built by the HTRS students uses UBUNTU operating system. It has DVD burning capabilities, a 400 watt power supply, is 64 bit that we will run as 32 bit, 512 RAM, and a 160 g harddrive. The cost for the machine was $400 which was paid through ESU 4 and Gregg Robke of Auburn.

Students answered questions using gabcast. Gabcast is a podcasting and audioblogging platform that provide an easy way to collect and distribute audio content. Students used a cellphone to call an 800 number and to give input about the lesson throughout the day. Students plan to use the machine during the process of creating the senior video.
